Why Gabon and Togo wanted to join the Commonwealth

At first glance, Togo and Gabon do not have much to do within the Commonwealth, an organisation initially intended to bring together countries that had in common to have pledged allegiance to the British crown and which already has 54 members. On Friday 24 June, however, these two historically French-speaking countries will join at the summit of heads of state and government in Rwanda, which joined the Commonwealth in 2009.
