Ivorian soldiers' case: final stretch in negotiations between Bamako and Abidjan

According to our information, the Malian junta and the Ivorian authorities are unable to agree on where to hand over the 46 Ivorian soldiers who have been held in Mali for three months.

This blockage was discussed on October 6 in Abidjan during a meeting between Alassane Ouattara and his Togolese counterpart Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, who is also a mediator in this issue that is poisoning relations between the two West African neighbors. Ouattara's chief of staff, Fidèle Sarassoro, also involved in the negotiations, and the Ivorian Minister of Defense, Téné Birahima Ouattara, were also present. This is the first time that the two heads of state, who have been talking by telephone, have spoken directly about this issue.
